July 13, 2018 Day 10 Marquette, MI to Iron River, MI

It was another rainy morning and I suggested heading to a local diner instead of fast food again.  We split a potato and gravy meat skillet. After breakfast we headed to Ishpeming in search of Jasper Knob.  It was not the easiest to find the path that was described in the pamphlet that our camp neighbors had shared with us, but once we found it, the hike was short and resulted in a fantastic view.

July 11, 2018 Day 8 Marquette, MI

So…we decide to have breakfast burritos again.  What can we say, they were good.  I loved that we were having vegetables on a daily basis, which is sometimes a camp luxury. We headed out to explore the campground we were staying at since it was the number three item listed for Marquette on Trip Advisor.

July 9, 2018 Day 6 Marquette, MI

Last night Scott and I headed to the store to stock up on food.  I went down one aisle, Scott went down another and said he’d be right back.  Ten minutes later I was looking up and down the aisles trying to find him since I was ready to go.  I finally found him talking with an employee named Tom. Tom works demos at the store.  He had just finished doing a demo on ice cream sundaes.  He and Scott had been talking about Honey Buns and Rice Krispie Treats and the best deals, and Tom offered Scott his leftovers from his demo day.  Tom gave us four large beautiful peaches, an entire container of vanilla yogurt, and chocolate syrup. He offered for us to come back some more days at the end of his shift to get more too.  Thanks to Tom we had a delicious breakfast of cantaloupe, peaches, and vanilla yogurt.

July 22, 2016–Day 18–Theodore Roosevelt National Park–North Unit to South Unit

The full moon and the yipping coyotes woke me up on and off throughout the night.  I kept thinking I heard bison too, but it turned out just to be Cody a little congested with the dry air.  Thankfully it cooled off during the night and I actually had to pull out the sleeping bags in the middle of the night.  Site number 12 was a walk-in site, but well shaded and very nice. We had some pan fried granola and were on the Caprock Coulee Trail by 10:15.
