July 7, 2016–Day 3- Chain O’ Lakes to Kohler-Andrae State Park

Scott started the day with an hour and a half bike ride to Cedarburg and back.  After a breakfast of eggs and bacon we headed to the beach. Cody patiently waited for us to get our things together for the beach by doing one of his favorite past times: playing in the dirt.

July 14, 2015–Day 9 Tim’s Ford, TN

This was one of our favorite days, and not just because it was our fourteenth wedding anniversary, but because we hiked, canoed, and had an incredible dinner and evening together.

Day 13: July 26th, 2014 Moab, Utah to Canyonlands National Park Needles District

Early morning photos at our campsite.  Cody was really into spotting the lizards.  This one happened to pose for us.  After a quick breakfast of cereal we headed to the Island in the Sky Visitor’s Center at Canyonlands National Park.  We scooped up the Junior Ranger books, listened to a ranger talk on geological layers, and then watched the park movie.

Day 7: July 20th, 2014 Rocky Mountain National Park to Grand Lake, CO

Our second morning waking up in Moraine Park Campground. The site yesterday was far better, but we still enjoyed being inside Rocky Mountain National Park again. This morning Scott made French Toast. We chatted with a couple from Quebec in a lovely small RV that looked like a converted van. It was amazing. The couple backed into their spot, hit a few buttons to level out the vehicle, and they were set up for the night. Same thing in the morning. They finished reading in the sun, hit a few buttons, and waved as they jetted off. I looked at Scott, “You and me. Thirty years from now.” Not that I don’t enjoy sleeping in a tent, but the convenience factor of a converted van is extremely tempting.

Day 8: July 21st, 2014 Grand Lake, CO to Steamboat Springs, CO

After a quick breakfast of cereal we went for a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park just outside of the Green Ridge Campground we stayed at. We hiked the East Shore Trail along Shadow Mountain Lake one hour each way 3.2 miles in total. The kids did a great job. They wanted to keep going, but Scott and I decided that we should probably turn around after an hour. Cody started the hike with rock throwing into the lake. He cracked us up when a few feet into the trail it opened into a forest and he said disappointedly, “Well, I can’t throw any rocks in here.”

Day 2: July 15th, 2014: Anita, Iowa to Pierce, Nebraska

Good Morning Iowa!

We started the day the perfect way with a little family snuggle time.  Snuggle time today eventually ended the way most family snuggle time does these days, with a tickling and wrestling fest.  Neither Scott nor I got up to exercise.  I think Scott was politely waiting for me and I slept in way longer than my usual internal summertime clock of 5:30.  That may have something to do with still being a little too sensitive to the sounds of passing freight trains, dogs barking, and the ranger asking the dogs to leave.  As with all trips I will eventually get tired enough and learn to sleep through the new noises.

Spring Break March 23 – March 29th, 2014 : Part 1

Sunday

We left home at 7:30am and drove until 5:30 pm.  We had been excitedly anticipating seeing our family friends for months!  We couldn’t wait to see them again!  After arriving and unloading we played with some toys, ate some pizza, and happily collapsed into bed.
