We hopped in the car at six am in Simpsonville, SC and headed to Folly Beach, SC on the coast. The drive was about three and a half hours each way. It was totally worth the drive.

The storms were pretty intense last night, so we all are short of sleep for the second day in a row. The kids slept walked through some breakfast.

The calm after the storm. Well sort of. Brooke woke us up at 4:40 alerting us to the rain that was drumming into our campsite and picking up speed and energy with every moment. Scott and I stumbled out of the tent still with our eyes half open and put the fly on the tent faster than I think we ever have. The timing just before sunrise allowed us to be able to see unlike most instances when we are woken up in the middle of the night. We rested for a few more hours, but no one really fell back to sleep.

Here we go :-) Starting mileage is 175,535. Just shortly before 9am we all ran through the house one more time looking for things we didn’t want to forget, squished on the kitties one last time, and piled into the van. She’s a little weighed down, but she is still working hard.

Scott was up at 5am, but let us all sleep until 7:30. It was a perfect morning to sleep in and with the top off the light breeze lulled us in and out of sleep.

It was another rainy morning and I suggested heading to a local diner instead of fast food again. We split a potato and gravy meat skillet. After breakfast we headed to Ishpeming in search of Jasper Knob. It was not the easiest to find the path that was described in the pamphlet that our camp neighbors had shared with us, but once we found it, the hike was short and resulted in a fantastic view.
