Day 2: Utica to Springfield, IL to Horseshoe Lake, IL

Cody started stirring at 5:30, but I kept my eyes closed and hoped he would to. Brooke woke me up around 6:30, but I explained I would be a much nicer mommy if I could sleep just a little bit longer. At 7:30 Brooke was completely dressed and no longer willing to wait. Then the memories of last night came flooding back and I decided I should move a little faster.

Building a Canoe Seat and a Yoke

I purchased a Mad River Eclipse canoe for my upcoming trip to the Boundary Waters. That trip will most likely be a solo affair so I need to be able to paddle the boat single. So, I set about making not one, but two additional seats.  The boat will see additional use in family canoeing and I want to have seats for each of my two children and wife.

Day 76: Tuesday, August 17th – Wolf Point, Montana to Jamestown, North Dakota

Cody is slowly working his way back to his five am wake up call.  He was up by 6:15.  Today we finished a state and lost another time zone.  As of 10:30 we were only 998 miles from home! It is hard knowing that we could be home tomorrow if only the kids could handle more driving time, but I know that they are having a hard time dealing with all of the time they are sitting as it is.

Day 73: Saturday, August 14th Canmore, Canada to Glacier National Park, Montana

The Cody alarm woke us up around seven this morning.  Scott made some fabulous French toast.  Then we headed out to Calgary to clean our clothes and eat lunch.  We cleaned our clothes at the campground we stayed at last time we were in Calgary.  I was hoping to make it home to clean clothes, but as Brooke proudly proclaimed to everyone who would listen yesterday, “Mommy and Daddy are out of pants!”
