Scott went for a 43 mile bike ride early in the morning.

Cody and Brooke shared a quiet and happy moment looking over the map of the park and surrounding area while I cooked up some pan fried granola.

After Scott arrived back from his 43 mile bike ride we headed out on a family bike ride.

We stopped off at Eagle Bluff Light House.  The lighthouse opened in 1868.  The kids were not happy about the bike ride.  They complained through most of the entire bike ride and refused most of the picture opportunities.  We happened to catch part of a tour and learned quite a bit of information.  Cody who didn’t seem to be listening shared that the anchor was from a ship that first launched in 1861.

We had someone take our first family photo on the trip. She took it upside down. I couldn’t flip it.  Scott said he will fix it later. Just turn your monitor upside down.  It is cute.

While on the bike trip the kids spotted a park.  They played for a few minutes until they decided throwing rocks at each other was a good idea. Next we found a beach made completely with shells.  Cody was in heaven.  Millions of shells and rocks to throw into the water.

We all took off our socks and shoes and waded into the water for a bit.

After the family bike ride Scott took the kids to the beach giving me the opportunity to have my own forty-five minute bike ride.

It is interesting when you spend every waking and sleeping moment side-by-side with your family.  Even five minutes without them seems like part of you is missing.  I almost turned back feeling like I would somehow miss out on some vital moment, but then I decided to keep going.  I enjoyed the quiet away from the incredibly busy campground and beach.  I appreciated the sunlight filtering in through the leaves, the uphills and the incredible view of the strawberry islands.

Cody dug another giant hole in the sand and yet again made new friends who also loved digging.  Brooke swam as far as she could with Scott, myself, and all by herself.  Back at the campsite Brooke asked to put together a volleyball net. We played for at least a half hour even though the wind and the smoke from the wet fire turned the game into quite the comedy routine.

Cody used his glow sticks from Meme from the fourth of July.  He put on quite a dance and was rather cute when he excitedly asked, “Can we turn off the lights, including the sun, all go into the tent and have a glow stick dance party?”  The picture to the right was his interpretive glow stick dance.

Brooke worked on her ranger badge book while Cody raced around the campground on his bike and then took breaks on Scott.

Scott asked Cody in his sleepy state what his favorite things were from the day: 1) potty humor by the fire 2) beach 3) riding his bike.
