The kids have no idea who the Three Stooges are, but sleeping in between the two rollers and trying to dodge their random super swift limb extensions made me feel like I was reenacting the Three Stooges. Being wide awake turned out to be a blessing because the heat lightning started looking more like a fourth of July fireworks finale and the wind began to pick up.  Then the wind sounded suspiciously like approaching rain.  Cody karate kicked Scott and I took the opportunity to ask him if he heard the rain.  No sooner had Scott sleepily finished saying it was just wind then drops began to fall into the tent.  I have put the fly on in the dark quite a few times and Scott many more times than I, but it has been a while and we fumbled in our sleepy state trying to find the right direction.  Last night I asked before I retreated from the mosquito swarm into the tent if we needed the fly. Scott said not worry as the forecast showed only a 5am sprinkle. The 5am sprinkle not only came early, but down poured into four and a half hours.  The storm meant water was going to seep into the tent, but on the upside the sticky humidity was replaced with a cool cleansing summer storm. Listening to summer storms in the tent is one of my favorite parts about camping.

Cody being cute and cuddly and then Cody ready to wrestle.

Brooke woke up complaining about how badly her clothes smelled. I tried to explain everything smells that badly and that’s how we are going to smell until the end of the trip. My explanation was met with an upturned nose, but she stopped complaining.

After a breakfast of pan fried granola we headed east on Wilmot Road.

We heard Brad Paisley’s “Crushin’ it” and Cody giggled and shared that his first ever potty talk came from a family friend Kayla who sang, “I’ll be flushin’ it” instead. I told him I’m sure he had potty talk before that and he quite adamantly and happily stated it was Kayla.

MillerCoors Brewery Tour Milwaukee, WI

The beer had its own conveyer belt across the road.

We had a lunch of beer, soda, and pretzels.  Parents of the year.  So we decided to head to church next…

Basilica of St. Josaphat Church in Milwaukee, WI – Scott needed to fulfill his yearly pilgrimage to church.

North Point Light Station Milwaukee, WI

Our campsite at Kohler-Andrae State Park had a private path to the park and to the beach. It was the third most requested site in the park.

Wood fired burgers for dinner!

Kiwi friends – Ken and Leone

They are on a six month bike packing trip across the US.  The were a breath of fresh air to talk to. I keep trying to get Scott on a bike packing trip.

Their website is: http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/IrvingsUSA

The kids and I went on a walk/bike ride and sunset.

S’mores and fire play.

The kids were gathered around Scott to hear the Rosen Car dealership song.  Scott was singing, “Hosen, Hosen, Hosen…” to Cody all day.  Sometimes it is the little things that cause hours of giggles.
