Scott woke up early for a 24 mile bike ride around the park.

Scott was able to see wild horses, rabbits, and bison on his bike ride. The bison blocked the road and he waited five minutes before a woman drove up and the bison finally moved. Scott rode along side the woman’s car to get through.

The kids earned their National Historian Badge today.

11:45 – Hike to the Petrified Forest – 2.9 miles – 1 hour 20 minutes

There was a heavy rain last night which left evidence of some animals having traveled on our same trail.

1:30 – Headed to the Black Hills

After a quick stop to shop and a quick bathroom break at Bowman City Park we cruised into the Spearfish City Campground.

Cody was feeling daring and somehow did not get motion sick despite going around and around over and over.

The long awaited Fruit Ninja.  This years guest was a cantaloupe.  It was eaten while the kids played in the stream and we enjoyed the fire.

Brooke built a boat and then made a person out of the tall grass.  We had to pull the kids away from the stream to go to bed.  They were thankful we decided to stay here for two nights.
