Scott went for a mountain bike ride while we got in some extra snuggle and glow stick dance party time. After a breakfast of pancakes we headed back to the beach.

I’m not sure exactly at what point in the day it happened, but it happened.  Scott and the kids were laughing away about some potty humor.  I had a funny line to add and everyone laughed, but then Cody got an uncomfortable smile.  “Mom, can you not try to do potty humor?”  Ouch.  Too funny.  Potty humor is not my thing, but I know it makes our hikes more fun and so I thought I would help it along.  This was the first time Cody ever asked me to not do something because he thought it wasn’t cool.

After breakfast we headed out on a canoe adventure to Horseshoe Island.  Scott had me in the back of the boat steering today.  Let’s just say I’m learning how to steer better.

It only took twenty minutes to paddle to the island. We found the path after we checked out the condemned pit toilets.  There isn’t much that is more odorific than a pit toilet, but condemned pit toilets…wooh!  They have their own category all together.

The wild daisies all over the island were not only beautiful to look at, but they smelled incredible.

We hiked around the entire perimeter of the island.

Cody was happy to find a flat area to toss rocks.  Scott and Brooke skipped rocks.  Brooke had a record skip of six skips and and a float before the rock sank.  Then Scott stepped it up to nine skips.  I’m pretty sure that will be the record for a long time.

On our trip back to the beach we only ran over only stand up paddle boarder.  Just kidding.  I did get a little close to her, but I steered us away just in time.

Cody was determined to only play on the playground, but he couldn’t help himself after Scott told him about the ultimate sand hole. Cody came over with his two shovels and instantly made some new friends.

After the beach we got in our second showers of the trip. We packed up camp.  It took an entire hour since the bikes needed to get put back on the roof.  Scott tried contorting his body in every way possible to stay off the van roof, but in the end he had to climb up there to get the bikes back on.  Brooke got her Wisconsin State Park badge and we headed to Sturgeon Bay to eat at Sonny’s.  We spoke to a retired police officer from Peoria, IL named Greg yesterday and he recommended Sonny’s.  Sonny’s was delicious.

While at Sonny’s we called Grandpa and wished him a happy birthday. It was also the 16th anniversary of Scott proposing in Mexico.

We don’t often have soda in the house or even on our trips.  So Brooke took every opportunity to steal sips of my Dr. Pepper.

Next we drove to the Boulder Lake Campground in Nicolet National Forest in hopes of rafting the Wolf River for the next day. Our campsite was already paid for by a teenager who decided to bunk with his buddy instead.  Not only was the site free, but we had a great path right down to the beach and lake.  It was late and getting dark so we set up the tent, went for a quick walk to the bathhouse, and then went to sleep.
