The kids didn’t waste anytime getting to the toys. They hopped up out of bed, dressed, and ran for the toys. After we painted, created a giant disaster, and attempted to clean the Little Miss we are sharing toys with asked,
“I can’t remember. Are you guys going to stay here forever?” Me - “Do you want us to?” “Oh yes!” We spent the rest of the day painting, making and destroying forts, wrestling a little, reading, and running through the kid wash. After dinner we headed to Lamberts – Home of the Thrown Rolls!
Thank goodness we only go to Lambert’s once a year. Cody literally licked the sorghum off of the hot rolls. Not a nutritionally sound meal, but great memories with friends. Brooke caught her own rolls for the first time. The first roll catch was great. The second one was a little hot and landed in my arms after she caught it. A Lambert’s visit would not be complete without balloons and watching the train over our heads.
After I read to the kids and they finally stopped rolling around I enjoyed rubbing the kids’ heads and backs until they fell asleep on me. At home this doesn’t always work because I usually fall asleep before they do. Since the start of summer I have been staying up later and sleeping in longer. The summer time hours are sneaking in. I slept in until almost seven today. That may not seem late, but it is compared to my usual school time of 4:30. Scott and Ed were up late laughing and remembering.
