Day 5: Tuesday, July 19th Springfield, MO

We started the day with a visit to the Science Center in Springfield, MO.  We spent most of our time between the water table and this room.  Cody loved the digger and a pulley that was attached to a bucket to bring up large Lego bricks.  The picture below on the right was a vacuum hose pushing out air which would play music and push up a spinning disk depending on what hole you put the air into.

This picture needs a line all to itself.  This was a bike on a high wire at the museum.  There was a counter weight underneath the bike to keep Scott from flipping all the way over, but he still had to be careful not to hit his head on the wall right behind him in the picture.  This was definitely not on his doctor approved list of activities after his shoulder surgery just a month ago, but he had fun and no one was hurt.

This is a gigantic hamster wheel that raises a weight as you spin the wheel.  After the weight reaches the top, about thirty feet up, you can hit a switch and see the weight drop while it conducts electricity through two wires.  Scott is secretly making plans for one of these in the basement to save money on the electric bill.  He had Brooke try it out to get the correct measurements for his prototype.  He thinks he is on to something, or at least a way to harness their seemingly endless energy.

After heading home for some much needed naps we then headed to Lambert’s, Home of Throwed Rolls.  Yes, that is a typo, and yes it was on purpose.  The kids loved seeing rolls flying and food coming from every corner of the restaurant.  The place was packed.  We had to wait it a line outside just to get on the waiting list, and it was a Tuesday.

Cody spotted a train up above.  He was very excited.  It was a very fun dinner.  We all had to be rolled back to our vehicles after consuming more than a week’s worth of food in one sitting.
