When we stopped to make dinner last night we met an incredible couple, Mary and Gordon, who were on their way back home to Edmonton after having their four grand kids and their friends for three weeks in their truck trailer. Mary was so friendly that Brooke was sad when they started to go, and whispered in my ear.  They wanted to know what she said.  She said she wanted Mary to play on the playground with her. Mary, who had grandma shining from every bit of light around her, didn’t seem so confident about climbing the equipment or sliding down the slides, but she did it for a three year old she had only just met. Brooke and I were very grateful for the ten minutes Mary spent playing “princess castle” with Brooke while Scott was busy making dinner and I was busy feeding Cody.

These pictures were taken at the Visitor’s Center for Mount Robson. Mount Robson is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,954 metres (sorry I don’t have the feet conversion right now).  The pictures up above settle a debate Scott and I had on my birthday.  We were in Wrangell – St. Elias on a gravel road and a moose was munching right next to the road and then walked in front of us.  I thought his shoulders were taller than me, and Scott said there was no way he was that tall.  Brooke is as tall as a three month old moose and I’m not even as tall as a one year old moose.  Mmm Hmm…

These were very unique informative displays that you turned not only to get more information, but also to move either the cars, trains, or pedestrians that went around the display.

Mount Robson minus the top

This is Mount Robson minus the top.  We did see it without the clouds for about a minute, but I wasn’t fast enough.

We got in a short forty minute scenic hike at Mount Robson on Overlander Falls.  Brooke started to meltdown, but we reminded her how proud we were of our “Junior Ranger” only melting down for two minutes yesterday and leading most of the hike.  No meltdown today!!!!

Overlander Falls

I thought the boys were cute both taking a drink break on the hike at the same time.  It is rare that Cody is actually drinking voluntarily.  I spend at least a half hour of my day offering and strongly suggesting they drink something.

After our hike we got in a great shower.  It was a family bathroom about the size of a small bedroom with a regular temperature control on/off valve.  Ahh!  The small pleasures in life.

We stopped by Jasper to get gas and attempt to use the Internet.  The Jasper Library gets the award for the most interesting landscaping, they used pine cones in lieu of grass, but they get the super stinky award for charging to use the Wifi and having no public restrooms.  Brooke is surprising us with how much she remembers about Jasper from our short visit here over a month ago.

Scott remembered a picturesque camp site from the last time we came through the Jasper/ Banff area and we went on a quest to find it.

Scott’s center line photo was taken just north of the Columbia Ice Fields

Our campsite last night

It was a most gorgeous site.
