Day 8: Thursday, June 10th: “Here Comes the Sun…” (Not really, I’m just trying to think positively…)

Brooke’s first fishing attempt on the spillway below the dam of Lake Winnibigoshish.  Try saying that three times fast!

Cody had a long night last night; well, we all did. Someone, we won’t name names of rambunctious little girls, slammed Cody’s left hand in the van door yesterday.  It was an accident that she got his hand, but not an accident that she was playing with the doors when she was told not to.  He cried for over an hour, went to an exhausted heaving sleep, and then woke up at 11 pm again.  There was no comforting him, he couldn’t even eat.  It was heartbreaking.  He finally napped a little this morning.

We had a nice rainy picnic in a McDonald’s parking lot.  The Wifi wasn’t cooperating, so no new posts today.  Then we did the drive-through version of Paul Bunyan and the Blue Ox.  Scott (Clark Griswald) thought doing a drive-through version was “anti-climatic”, but I convinced him that since Brooke refused to leave the car in the downpour that we would have to run, snap a pic, and call it a day.  We are just a short one hour drive from the head waters of the Mississippi River.  Scott wants to hang around there for a while.  I have other ideas, mainly The Cayman Islands with all-inclusive cocktails by the ocean-side pool, but it appears as though we get to enjoy another all-inclusive rain shower.  Does it ever stop raining here?  On the positive side, it is difficult for the 747’s they call mosquitoes to get you in the rain.
