Day 4: Sunday, June 6th

It is a beautiful seventy-degree sunny Sunday.  Yesterday I was delirious from lack of sleep.  Today I am just cranky.  It doesn’t help that I am also dealing with an over-tired toddler and baby too.  I was so tired last night that while feeding Cody I fell asleep.  When I awoke I had trouble remembering where I was and where I was supposed to be putting Cody.  I try not to fall asleep feeding Cody because both Scott and Brooke roll while they sleep.  Although I have to say Scott has been staying in one spot a lot better than Brooke.  Brooke keeps rotating off of her sleep mat and the ground is not only hard, but also very cold at night.  We are going to try to put two  mats under her tonight in an attempt to keep her warmer.  Last night was the first night we put a sleeping bag in Cody’s play yard.  I was nervous he was going to get wrapped up in it and stuck.  He definitely seemed to stay warmer with the sleeping bag.  He woke up only twice before 5:30.  The first time was at 11:30 due to the amazing guitarist in the site next to us getting a little too loud.

The kids at breakfast this morning.  It was cold before the sun really got moving, but after our showers we changed into shorts.  I also should mention that this was before Brooke had another meltdown.  She isn’t at home, so she isn’t sure of how to entertain herself and she probably feels like there isn’t anything she can do by herself.  Well, anything she wants to do.  I always suggest reading books or coloring, but she is an active lady, so quiet activities really aren’t her flavor.  This picture should include the bottom of her pants.  It rained all afternoon yesterday and thus we had a mud fest.  She was very upset when I stopped her attempts at cartwheels in the mud.

Brooke has always loved trains, but since we are following the Mississippi she is also now in love with boats.  We should have kept a tally, but I would not be exaggerating if I said that she asked to ride a boat at least a hundred times yesterday and today.  She was so determined to see the boats this morning that she kept trying to walk off into the woods to get back to the river.  Too bad we were on a large bluff and the walk would have been pretty bumpy.  Luckily, one of the books we brought along is Franklin Lost in the Woods. Franklin forgot that he shouldn’t go into the woods alone and was scared and lost.  I kept saying, “Remember Franklin.”  Our campsite neighbors were probably wondering who Franklin was.

I have finally determined that Clark Griswald has taken over Scott.  I think it was Las Vegas vacation when everything was going awry and Clark shouts, “****, we are on a fun family vacation and we are going to have FUN!”
