The world’s largest weather-vane, a Douglas DC-3

a fox that ran across the road on our way down from our remote Grey Mountain campsite

After a great breakfast of pan fried granola back at the spray park we went to get showers.  This marks the longest we have gone without a shower.  The last shower we had was last Thursday in Anchorage.  It might have been the cleanest and easiest to use shower yet.  The temperature of the water was even most perfect.  Yeah for being clean!

We would like to take the Cassiar Highway down through British Columbia, but as of today  the highway is closed due to a 20,000 hectare wildfire.  There was a ferry through at noon, but there is no guarantee that it will be there tomorrow.  We are on our way to Watson Lake to see the current status of the fire and the road.

It turns out that as we pulled into a gas station to check on the status of the Cassiar Highway or Highway 37 the last pilot car of the night was pulling out of the lot.  We followed the pilot car for about an hour or 40 miles.  There were some parts that were difficult to see through let alone breathe through.  Hopefully the rain today will help get the fire out.

We stopped to make a dinner of Jiffy Jambalaya, take some pictures, and let Cody grab some more rocks to bang and try to eat.

The total distance driven yesterday335 miles.  The kids had one fifteen minute melt down session where they both screamed and cried, and then it was over just like that.  We stopped at the next gravel turn out and took some pics and stretched.

Pictures of the area hit by the forest fire.

Gravel turn out rest stop and stretch.  This creek was called Dry Creek.

Pictures of where we stopped to eat dinner.
