Day 33: July 5th Fairbanks

“Oh what a beautiful morning! Oh what a beautiful day! I’ve got a beautiful  feeling it’s raining outside today!”

It rained, again.  However, it was still a beautiful day!  We used McD’s gift certificates (a present from a past student) and had a great breakfast and let the kids roam on the inside playground.  Since Cody eats every picnic table we come in contact with we (okay I am) are getting over the germ-phobia.  Then, if not having to cook and eat in the rain wasn’t fabulous enough the day got even better.  We had the first showers we have had in a looong time.  We were trying to figure out how long it has been, but it is really best not to think about those things.  At least the weather has been pretty cool, and we haven’t been hiking a lot lately, so the stink factor was still pretty low. At least no one said otherwise…

We were able to visit with Scott’s cousin and family for about three hours.  We showered (Thank You!) , visited, and learned about some neat sights to see.

By noon the sun was working hard.  Brooke was excited to ride her bike again.  We enjoyed riding around the campground, making sand castles, and swinging in the park.

This is Cody up past 9 pm.  Outside it is as bright as his beautiful eyes.  I have learned a trick though.  He likes to have a fresh diaper to do his business in before he goes to sleep.  The night time diapers are non-existent in Canada, so I have to make sure I use them wisely.  Thus I give him a fresh regular diaper, feed him, put him in the play yard, and about ten minutes later he’s ready to get ready for bed.  No fresh diaper = no sleepy baby.
